This does not get won by wonks.

Ecological stewardship will not be won by people in lab coats,and it will not be won by farmers alone. It gets won when thework becomes the thing people want to be near.Cultural resonance is not decoration on this movement. It isthe mechanism. If you want returns, it needs cultural resonance.If you want people to steward land differently, it needscultural resonance.

That is why this belongs at a film festival.

A supper club that runs for ten days.

The finest food in Boulder, every day, for ten days. Sourced from the Front Range, cooked by chefs who would rather be advocates than pretty faces, and built so that every plate carries the story of where it came from and what it took.

Thematic dinners: place-based, memory-based, political, ecological. Performance meals. Bone broth on tap all day. A morning table and a midnight one.

The measure of success is simple. Someone leaves Boulder in February and tells a friend that Terra House had the best food in town.

Art is how ecology gets in the door.

Commissioned installation, the Dark Room

Screenings are one medium here, not the only one.

The climate conversation is losing oxygen. Art and ecology is where the culture is actually paying attention, and where the art world and the people funding conservation are already meeting each other.

So: commissioned installations. Sculpture. Theater and performance dinners. Bioacoustic and immersive work you put headphones on for. Artists presenting their own work. Musicians in the building every night, including the ones nobody announced.

Screenings are one medium here, not the only one.

The people who tell it.

Sundance brings the world's storytellers to Boulder for ten days. Terra House is where they meet the people whose work the stories are about: the farmers, the scientists, the funders, and the stewards who rarely get a room like this.

Short films and documentaries paired with the people living the work. Conversations that run thirty minutes, not ninety. And an open question about what independent storytelling becomes next, asked among the people who will have to answer it.

WHY BOULDER

Boulder has always had the nerve to try the next thing. It is a place of invention and reinvention, and Sundance chose it for a reason. The Front Range is the petri dish: the farmers, ranchers, scientists, and organizations we platform are local and specific. The room we build for them is national.

WHY SUNDANCE

Sundance exists because some stories are necessary and will not get told inside the mainstream. That is the same claim this work makes about land. And there is a live question worth hosting: independent film does not yet know what it is in 2027. Boulder is a good place to ask what comes next.

Dinner. Then film, then music, then the part of the night nobody planned.

Come in from the cold.

A post-and-beam building in downtown Boulder, walking distance from Pearl Street and the festival venues. Modern cabin: warm wood, wool, firelight, and a set of smaller rooms off a large one, so the place has corners to disappear into as well as a stage to gather around.

Strengthening Sundance, never competing with it.

Sundance does not want competing content pulling attention, and they do not want sponsorship dollars diverted. We agree. Terra House brings the festival more vitality: more ticket purchases, and new audiences from regenerative agriculture, conservation, and impact investing who would not otherwise be buying passes.

Our programming is coordinated around the official schedule, we drive attendees toward official screenings, and for sponsors outside the official network we facilitate introductions to Sundance's partnership teams.

Friends,

I grew up in Aspen and went to school in Boulder, and I have spent a decade putting people in rooms: festival stages, investor dinners, mountain summits, city streets. The thing I have learned is that nothing important happens because it was on the agenda. It happens because the food was good enough that people stayed, and because someone they did not expect was sitting across from them.

Sundance coming to Boulder is the largest cultural moment this town will ever host. The default outcome is that national brands buy every open venue and the people who actually steward this landscape watch from across the street. I am not interested in watching.

So we are building a house. Ten days, one building, the best food in town, commissioned work from artists who take the land seriously, music every night, and a door that stays open. If you have spent your life on soil, water, seed, or story, this is your room, and I would like you in it.
